OCTRONICA returns for its second year; a boutique festival of electronic music hosted once again by the excellent RealCoolTime Records in the heart of Tallahassee. 2024’s modest-but-memorable debut left attendees asking 'when will you do this again?'. Founding performers Nathan Pugh, Rexford Tugwell and Burlap Productions have answered the call with intent to thrill -- a full spectrum of techno, breakbeat, leftfield and IDM synthetics, reinforced this year by PixelDeath64; an ethereal melodic drum n’ bass merging of John Brashears (Sleep John B) and Brandon Hanks (DETHDUMP). Adding some extra grip to the tentacles, the pallette expands into trip-hop/boom bap lyricism from Don’t Tell A Soul - a dynamic collab between rap entities Artisan P and Buster Wolf.
This year the walls will also get a booster shot of video art from Chris Faupel - creative director for the Tallahassee Film Festival. On the periphery expect a dedicated merchandise table, $1 gear raffle and assorted beverages. There’s a suggested $3 cover, but attendees are welcome to pay what they can. Come early, explore the store and enjoy the preshow tunes. Another memorable experience guaranteed.
